Solo Stroll at a Magical Place.
Isn’t it an enormous blessing to have a haven — aside from your bedroom — away from the noise of our frantic world?
For years, the chains of insecurity had hindered me from a marvelous experience, confining me to a shell without windows, as if a phantom beast was waiting to swallow me as soon as I emerged.
One suffocating night, I gave my introverted brain a sugary pep talk — Not anymore! We’re doing this tomorrow. Hidden courage blossomed within me like a palm tree that blooms only once in seventy years. The next day, I headed out for an adventure.
Dressed in shades of purple, I hailed a tricycle ride (the type common in some African countries, not the ones in Central Park, Manhattan 🤭). As the sun crept below the horizon, its lingering heat made me regret not checking the weather before opting for a fancy, thick outfit.
Don’t worry; the sun will soon set. Putting on my sunglasses, I settled into the bouncing-castle drive. Before long, the autorickshaw screeched to a jolted halt. In my mind, I could almost hear an Uber guy announcing, “You’ve arrived, ma’am.” Woe is me!
Beyond the parking lot, I strolled into another dimension — steep stairs designed with natural stones and immaculate white buildings perched on a hilly terrain.
I mounted the stairs to the park’s topmost level, searching for a perfect sitting spot. Just before reaching the top, a breathtaking landscape to my right had me hooked in heels.
Seeing innumerable rooftops nestled among winding hills brought a smile so wide it melted away all the tension in my muscles.
I hurried to a quiet area overlooking a picture-perfect green scenery, with a flourishing carpet of grass laid across the ground. When the sun faded, I removed my glasses to soak in the moment.
The familiar scent of watered grass permeated everywhere. With only a dozen or so people scattered throughout the park, I could appreciate the tranquil ambiance. High trees teeming with life cast inviting shades all around. A cool breeze brushed over me as butterflies danced and melodious birds filled the air with singing contests.
All my worries vanished. Only pure bliss remained.
An hour later, I descended the spiral stairway, feeling like a queen striding down her castle. My little exploration left a confidence boost I never anticipated.
It was as enchanting as drifting on lofty clouds, beaming with delight.
The rainy season would be perfect for this kind of self-love. I must come back.
Did I visit again and again? You bet!
Never be afraid to explore the universe unaccompanied.
